Good print, bad print.

Hear, hear, my story with Brutefun's latest greenskins. A nice Troll, a cute Snotling and some troublesome Forest Goblins too small for my table.

Good print, bad print.

All this begun with a gift. I have this friend who was in love with Brutefun' Snotling Blood Bowl team. Long story short, I wanted to paint something fun before my home renovation started and stopped my hobby on its tracks for the next two months, so he handed me his River Troll and a couple of Snotlings (so tiny one of them didn't survive his way home and lost an arm).

I painted them in one weekend (the Troll with the Snotling on his shoulder, and the Snot high on 🍄) and this was the result:

But during that process I saw how amazing the 2.0 Savage Orcs from Brutefun's Patreon were (and their mates, the Forest Goblins). So I joined in. Of course I did.

Three days later I could not help myself so I looked for a licensed printer on Etsy (based in Portugal) and asked for the full team (2 months of Patreon releases, 22 models printed in 12k, 78€ shipping included -any thoughts on the price? Leave a comment below). Communication was good (pics were not perfect, but wasn't a big deal) so I spotted a misprint on some feathers and he had the opportunity to print another goblin before shipping.

A couple of weeks later the box arrived and... Well... The packaging was not good (I'll skip the details but I recorded the unboxing just in case). And as I feared, one Spider Rider was broken (2 legs were loose in the box). Also the tusked Troll, a Spider Rider and a Goblin were entangled like those metal puzzles you've to solve separating the rings (I managed to do it without breaking any pointy bit, but didn't enjoy the process).

But worst of all: The STLs seem to have a scale that's not the same I swear on the renders (I guess). I wrongly assumed that the goblins would be the size of the Goblin Bruisers and the orcs would look big, like Black Orcs (because of their size relative to the base in the animated renders I saw).

It's a lot smaller, trust me.

I was so wrong it hurts 😩 (my fault because I didn't ask first). But curiously, this little runner is as big as the Bruiser, no need for upscaling.

🚧
Apologies for the quality of the pictures, all my lamps & equipment are boxed and covered by plastics and enough dust to bury a Carnodon

With a bit of cleaning they will all look OK but these two (I need to contact the printer and ask him if he's OK with printing a couple of replacements before scoring the transaction in Etsy):

My favourite gobbo lost his chin.
Unrepairable layering on the nose.

I wanted them bigger, so I need to buy another team. Not sure who will print them, but for now my friend will keep them instead of binning the whole lot or giving them away (his orcs are in the same scale).

So, let's forget about this sad episode and enjoy the nice painted models (the reason we all came here in the first place, right?):

Drooling troll is a bit confused (eye bags are like mine).
Underworld' scaly ass.
- There, go there pal!
Detail of the elbow, arm and shoulder.
The Snotling mets a 15mm Eldar Farseer.

Did you like the troll? Too much print drama? Stay tuned for more!
